    AMENITIES & SERVICES

What to expect: Billing itself as "The City of Entertainment," MGM Grand indeed resembles a teeming city where thousands of guests, staff, and visitors flowing off The Strip mingle—and the entertainment never stops. Clad in emerald-green glass and guarded by a 45-foot-tall lion (the largest bronze statue in the United States), the hotel attracts families and couples from around the world.

Amenity highlights: A 6.6-acre coconut-grove garden includes five pools (one open year-round), three spas, and a quarter-mile river down which guests float on rented rafts and tubes. For-rent cabanas come with a television, telephone, dining set, ceiling fan, padded lounges, beverage-filled refrigerator, and private server. The 29,000-square-foot, Japanese-style Grand Spa includes saunas, steam rooms, 12-person spas, a fitness center, and plush relaxation rooms.

Insider tip: Exclusive in Las Vegas, the 2.5-hour Dreaming Ritual treatment and massage at the Grand Spa features oils and wraps inspired by Australian Aboriginal culture.

The MGM Grand's grandeur begins with a vast marble lobby adjacent to the immense casino. Facilities include a supervised children's center (ages 3–12), an 11,400-square-foot arcade of video and virtual-reality games, a full-service business center, and a golf desk.

Other headliners such as Ann-Margaret and Tom Jones perform in the more intimate, 740-seat Hollywood Theatre.

Housing up to six big cats, the Lion Habitat provides free shows daily, with an enormous glass cage separating guests from lions in a natural-appearing habitat of rocks, trees, and waterfalls. A see-through tunnel winds through the habitat, allowing visitors to be surrounded by lions.

Celebrities fly in just for a night at Tabú, an ultra-cool lounge. Guests in their sexiest clothes sip champagne and dance amid and atop contemporary furnishings that include low tables upon which video images are projected and can be altered by hand movements.

A more raucous crowd turns out at Studio 54, a three-story recreation of the famed New York City industrial-setting dance club. Dancers writhe on platforms at the entrance, symbolizing the action inside.

Located on Studio Walk, a 115,500-square-foot shopping promenade resembling a Hollywood sound stage, CBS Television City screens television-show pilots to gauge audience reaction, displays a futuristic digital home theater, and sells logo merchandise from popular shows and cable channels.

Comprising 171,000 square feet, the casino supplies slots, video poker, backjack, craps, roulette, baccarat, pai gow, keno, a 144-seat sports book, and a race book.
